The board approved an additional appropriation for the schools of nearly $269,000. None of the funds for the additional appropriation come from county tax dollars, Dr. Gangel explained. Most come from grants, the largest from a federal grant for serving "at risk” students Dr. Gangel explained that the school system would not spend the money iif it does not come in. With the additional appropriation the total school budget for the year is nearly $5.7 million. *
