To the Editor:

George Marshall Jordan passed away on Oct. 1, 1993, at the age of 91. This is a tribute to his life and to the inspiration that he was to his family and friends.

His immediate family includes a sister, Rose Lewis, and three sons, George, Thomas and Robert. Thomas and George live in Rappahannock County. Robert is deceased but there are three grandchildren, William, James and Selena.

Called Marshall by everyone, he was bom on June 30, 1902, in Gid Brown Hollow of Rappahannock County and spent virtually all of his days there. Obliged to quit school and go to work at the age of nine, when his father was unable to work any longer, he never learned to read or write.
