Moose, Pig
Up For
Auction
It may be a real dog fight to good art at the Oct. 30 Inaugrual Art Auction at The Middle St. Gallery, according to Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist Jeff MacNelly.
It is the unmistakable MacNelly humor and genius which graces the posters and invitations for this year’s auction.
Variously attired spectators in* front of the Middle St. Gallery include dogs, a chicken, rabbit, moose, and bear. The auctioneer is a dog in glasses hawking a portrait of a selfimportant pig in black tie and top hat.
Gallery president Chris Stephens claims that he expects a slightly different clientele to attend the actual Auction.
MacNelly is a member of the nonprofit Middle St. Gallery, which hopes to raise enough funds at the Auction to run the gallery’s educational and outreach activities for one year.
The original pen and ink MacNelly Middle St. Gallery Auction drawing will be offered for auction on Oct. 30.
