Wallanib has performed with Ray Charles, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Garrison Keilor’s American Radio Company, Perry Como, and Louie Bellson. He is also a composer, teacher, and music consultant to the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and the Smithsonian’s Jazz Masterworks Editions.
Special guest Loren Schoenberg will perform on the tenor sax with the Capital Jazz sextet. They will play the music of Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhom, Nat Adderly, and others. At 7 p.m. Wallarub will give a pre-concert talk on “Jazz: The Magic Behind the Arrangement,” when he will discuss what arranging is and how' it has influenced the sounds and styles of the famous jazz bands.
