Del. Wood’s is basically “prochoice" on abortion. However he is sponsoring a bill requiring parental notification which is pending from the last session. However Del. Wood’s bill has a larger list of people other than parents who could be notified in cases where the minor is afraid to have parents notified, ^nd the bill only applies to girls younger than 16. He said he would support bills requiring a 24-hour waiting period for an abortion and providing women with information on alternatives.
Del. Wood said he supports environmental legislation but is not in favor of Tier III designation for parts of the Rappahannock River. He notes that Tier III designation is “regulatory not legislative,” but said he is concerned that it is “very restrictive” and permanent.
Del. Wood said he favors land use taxation, but supports current statewide studies to determine if there are abuses and if the program can be “made better.”
