One of the most coveted tickets in the Town of Washington during December is an invitation to the annual Christmas Party for the town put on by the owners and staff of The Inn at Little Washington.
Everyone who lives or works in town is invited.
Those who don’t, try to discover a town connection, and many succeed.
They meander past ice sculptures, salmon, roast beef, shrimp, a fancy desert table, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
“This is elegant grazing,” one guest remarked.
The staff remains completely unruffled, at least as far as the guests can see, while more and more people squeeze in and platters are emptied and replaced with full ones.
It all makes for a very elegant evening.
