Continuing the holiday spirit past New Year’s Day, The Theatre at Washington will present a concert by Whim’n Rhythm at 3 p.m. on Sunday,Jan. 2, 1994.
As Yale University’s premier - women’s singing group, Whim’n Rhythm represents the best in female a cappella singing. They will be performing in Little Washington as part of their winter tour.
Whim’n Rhythm was founded in 1981 to provide a showcase for Yale’s finest women singers. Each year the fourteen graduating members select their successors from the incoming senior class, choosing singers with outstanding vocal ability and musical expression. Each group passes on its musical repertoire to the next, and adds new pieces of its own choosing.
From the structural style of classical compostion to the sophisticated swing of jazz to the upbeat liveliness of contemporary pop, Whim’n Rhythm’s repertoire presents tight, four to six-part harmony blended to perfection. Other arrangements by the group include folk songs, ballads, and tradtional Yale songs arranged to highlight women’s voices.
Tickets for the concert on Jan. 2 are now on sale. Prices are $10 and $5 (depending on location). Special group rates are also available. All seats are reserved. For more information or to make reservations, call The Theatre at 675-1253.
