Giving
As we remember our families and friends in this season, let us also remember the organizations which make Rappahannock County a better and safer place to live.
Our volunteer fire departments and rescue squads include many of our neighbors who stand ready to save our lives and homes from disasters. They put in many hours in training and in raising funds to provide this service for us. It is appropriate for us to remember these volunteers with cash or a check for their organizations.
The Child Care and Learning Center can always use funds to help provide scholarships for families who cannot afford the full cost of the day care provided. The Friends of the Rappahannock Library help greatly to expand what our public library is able to offer. School parent-teacher organizations and booster clubs for sports and music need funds to support their programs. RAAC, Ki Theatre and the Middle Street Gallery have enriched our lives in so many ways and can use help from the public to keep these programs alive.
The Piedmont United Way campaign is $55,000 short of its goal to fund the agencies that depend on it for funds.
