Amiss viUe United Methodist pastor Rev. Nancy B. White and the congregation invite the community to join them Christmas Eve, at 7:30 p.m. for a candlelight service, including communion. A nursery will be available for ages new-born to 4 years.

Mike Mayhugh of Mayhughs Grocery invites everyone to stop by and register for free prizes to be given away Christmas Eve morning. First prize is a 19 inch color TV, second prize is a country ham, and third prize is a case of soft drinks.

I spoke with Katie Lake, Culpeper County’s Gypsy Moth Program Coordinator, on Dec. 17. As a result of the 1993 egg mass surveys, she has recommended several spray block for next springs. In Jefferson District, they include the following: Rt. 802, Beaver Dam, and King and Queen Drives; Black Hill Rd. (Rt. 626); Sheads Mountain Rd. (Rt. 624); Rt. 611; and River Rd. (off Rt. 729).

These are only “proposed” spray blocks. They must be approved by the state. Ms. Lake will publish a map in local newspapers in January or February showing approved spray blocks. You may call her at 825-2233 if your desire to get on her list to survey egg mass on your property next August and September.

I’d like to express my appreciation to everyone for their prayers, cards, and expressions of kindness following my heart surgery on Nov. 23.
