Rappahannock News Contributing Writer j _ On Saturday, the first game of the Apple Valley Baseball League Finals between the Rappahannock Monarchs and Edinburg was postponed by rain ! with Edinburg leading 9-6 in the sev[ enth inning. Sunday’s game at ; Edinburg was rained out and will be made up this weekend.
For a number of reasons, this past weekend’s rain came at the wrong time for the Monarchs. First, Monarchs’ sluggers Reggie Williams and William Parker had hit back to back home runs to cut the Edinburg lead to three. Second, Edinburg’s best pitcher, Mike Siers, was on vacation for the weekend, and Edinburg's starter and only other accomplished pitcher, Toby Keller, was tiring.
