Child care centers are a natural place for family support, since more than half of the children under age five spend part of their day in child care. With all the talk in the media about welfare reform, 1 see it as crucial that people who are planning for family support service delivery are aware of the resource that child care environments can provide through ongoing parent education and communication, and linkage with social service and special education providers.
The article in last week’s paper about Sue Scheer’s visit described only one Qf the advocacy efforts the , Child Care and Learning Center has made in public education about the role of day care centers in coordinating service delivery to families of young children.
