To the Editor:
I have two comments on last week’s news (1) longhorns and (2) the Sperryville traffic patterns.
The Andrews’ new herd of longhorns is not the only such herd in Rappahannock County. Walden Mountain Farm in Slate Mills acquired a small herd of registered Texas longhorns last spring.
My partner in this venture, Joe Keys, provides the labor, while 1 provide the land. The Keys children, Whitney and Joshua, feed and care for the longhorns and are making them quite tame. It is a shame the 4-H will not let kids show the breed, because they are no more difficult to train than other cattle. Perhaps our bull "Scotch and Water" will someday meet the Andrews’ cows in a little Rappahannock mixer.
Concerning the Sperryville traffic pattern, if VDOT is going to add a left turn lane where U.S. 522 splits off from U.S. 211 at the Exxon, that lane should extend to east of the
