In ways that mimic glass and pottery forms, Geofferey Wilkes makes vase-like carvings of burl, bleached box elder and other woods, which he combines. A white vessel rises perhaps too abruptly and fully from a small base, making it seem easy to topple, but I couldn’t resist stroking the fine, slightly pebbly texture of the finish of this uniquely beautiful work of art. This piece received the show 's third prize.

Pres Nowlin’s tables have the cleanness of form of Shaker pieces. An especially attractive cherry prairie hall table employ s an unusual detailing beneath the top that his other tables have — almost as if Nowlin has invented a signature for his simple designs.
