path runs right along the northern part of the island's seaside. The north tends to be rocky while the southern shoreline is sandy and is where you'll find most of your beachgoers and bathers (and quite a few campsites). We had another delicious seafood dinner in La Flotte upon our return at L’Ecailler. It was still light at 10:30 p.m. as we headed back across the bridge to La Rochelle with a huge cloud back behind us in the west hanging over the ocean beyond the island looking almost like the Shenandoah mountains against the setting sun.
