Summertime Tips
When shopping pick up the perishables as your last stop in the grocery store and get them home and into the refrigerator as soon as possible. Don't leave them in the car while you run other errands. If you live more than 30 miles from the store, take an ice chest and ask the clerk to pick perishable items together so that you can put them in the ice chest to transport home. Put groceries in the passenger section of your car when it’s air conditioned, not in a hot truck.
Thawing — The safety way to thaw meat or poultry is to take it out of the freezer and leave it overnight in the refrigerator. Normally, it will be ready the next day.
