I hey also plan to add junior varsity programs in cheerleading and soccer next year, with junior varsity softball and baseball teams in a subsequent year.

Mr. Raines said he wants more students to be able to participate in sports. “This is the center of the community. I want the kids here after school,” he said. “We’ll start with the track and the JV programs. Then the future might hold football,” he said.

He said they don’t want to have a lot of rules in school and want to put most of the responsibility for proper behavior on the students.

They have been working on scheduling for the new year. “We’ve worked a lot of late hours, but we like it,” Mr. Raines said. “1 don’t want people around me who aren’t positive and willing to work hard. 1 want happy kids. I want teachers greeting the kids and letting them know we’re glad to have them.”
