We ate an early dinner in our hotel and went to the “Sound and Light’’ show at the smaller but also beautiful chateau of Azay le Rideau. Set in a lush park on the banks of the Indre, this chateau dating from 1518 was built more for beauty and social standing than for defensive purposes.
For the show, young actors dressed in Renaissance clothing reenact scenes from the history of the chateau with the help of music and spotlights. The chateau lit up from various angles as dusk deepened behind it conspired to transport us back to that romantic period.
