The horses, and four ponies, are obviously all well cared for and happy. Ms. Poore treats them all like her own. “These guys are happy guys,” she said. Three of the horses are her own, two schoolers and one hunter, and she shows them at local shows in Culpeper, Nokesville, Berryville and Leesburg.
She teaches riding lessons to anyone from the age of five on up, mostly beginners. There is a 100 foot by 250 foot sand riding ring near the largest bam with eight or nine jumps set up for hunters. The local pony club sometimes uses the ring, as it may be rented. Riding students come from all around: Washington, D.C., Culpeper, Alexandria and Rappahannock. They have all found Ashtree by word of mouth.
