across to them that they could not make it down to the lodge, they actually asked WHY? Maybe he should have let them go ahead and walk. After all, it was just getting dark, and right up the road about another 30 feet half the road was missing and the creek, which of course was now a river, was raging through it! They could have fallen in it and been swept away, since they didn’t have flashlights and we sure don’t have street lights here in the country! But after several minutes of yelling at them they finally realized that they needed to turn around.
Then on Saturday, only three days after,the flood, at our little Etlan Store, in walked a very disgruntled man with two children. He demanded to know “why is the trout pond at Graves Lodge closed? My kids want to go trout fishing, after all this is the 4th of July weekend!” He was not pleased when told that we had just had a major flood. He then demanded to know “well, would the other trout pond above Graves be open?”
