George Grimsley
George Turner Grimsley, 75, of Flint Hill died Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester.
Funeral services were held at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church on Tuesday with the Rev. Merlin Shorb officiating.
Interment was in the Flint Hill Cemetery in Flint Hill.
Mr. Grimsley was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Rappahannock County, the son of the late Emmett and Molly Virginia Foster Grimsley.
He was a member of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church, Veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army and was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Mae Pullen Grimsley of Flint Hill; three sons, Ashby Grimsley of Front Royal, Russell Grimsley of Huntly and Walter Grimsley of Castleton; one daughter, Joyce James of Flint Hill; one brother, Merle Grimsley of Luray; one sister, Ethel Lillard of Flint Hill; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Charles Currence, Lynn Atkins, Nelson Atkins Jr., Doug Bywaters, Emory Russell, Major Cowgill, Robert Clatterbuck and Rodney Vest.
Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Eastham, Lindsay Eastham, Grady Vest, Bradley Dodson, Mark Currence and Walter Curtis.
Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal was in charge of the arrangements.
