For athletic and other competition high schools are divided by enrollment into single A (A), double A (AA) and triple A (AAA). Based on counts of 10th though 12th graders, enrollment cut offs have been 500 for A and 1,000 for AA. In an effort to divide schools evenly among the three categories and among regions within those categories, the VHSL has various proposals for realignment.
