ing some good, some reason or some lesson in life. His mission was to share that optimism, that love of his kindred, that passion for life.
"Paul had a genuine interest in every person he met, every person he talked to,” said Mrs. Massie. She said his interest was obvious after the first word he exchanged, and it was sincere.
"He really was interested in what you were doing and what you were saying," she said.
"He liked to sit around down at the store and have coffee and talk with people. He liked to go out to breakfast just to talk with people," said friend and fellow Boy Scout leader, Phil Lamma. Mr. Lamm a remembers Mr. Nichols from years back when Mr. Lamma was a Boy Scout and Mr. Nichols was the leader.
In his last years of retirement, Mr. Nichols spent his time, visiting and talking, as familiar as the sun that rises each day — and as bright. "He was enjoyed by everyone," Mr. Lamma said.
