Last Thursday and Friday, 17 RCHS students grades 9-12 became trained peer mediators.
The group was elected at the end of last year to help fellow students resolve their problems. They will deal with things such as rumors and misunderstandings, "he-said-she-saids."
Before the mediators could help, however, they needed to attend a 12 hour training session. The course was conducted by the Piedmont Dispute Resolution Center from Warrentoh which has trained many other schools including Liberty High School in Bealeton.
The mediators enjoyed the class.
"It was really fun and we've all bonded together like one big family. Together we can conquer anything," one new mediator, Katie Zindel said.
Another mediator, Abe McLear agreed, "It was a great and wonderful experience."
"I thought it was a very worthwhile experience and it taught us a lot ways to deal with our problems. The course we took will help us with conflicts in the future," added mediator Ashleigh Cannon.
