While on the subject of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Helen Smith for her years of service to our community. She will be greatly missed and we all wish her much happiness in her soonto-be new surroundings. Best of luck, Helen!

Saturday, November 2, Amissville Fire Department will hold a country ham and turkey dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $8 per plate or $10 for allyou-can-eat. Children 5 to 10 years of age are only $5 and children 4 are free.

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour by 2 a.m. this Sunday or, if you're like me, you'll set it back before you go to bed on Saturday night. While you're at it, change those batteries in your smoke detectors, too.
