Middle Street Gallery in Washington will be exhibiting the works of Mary Brownstein from Nov. 1-24. The artist's reception will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3rd.
The show is titled "Getting Personal: an exhibition of works on paper, in bronze, and direct cement."
This exhibition represents the most recent work of the artist. The small bronzes and large outdoor sculptures in direct cement continue to explore the relationship between everyday events which occur in the artist's life and how those events translate into personal artistic statements.
For the first time Ms. Brownstein will include a number of works on paper. About these works the artist says, "Full of symbolism and rich color, the works on paper are highly emotional and represent. my inner world. The imagery of both the two and .three dimensional works comes from visions which I see in my mind."
Ms. Brownstein received her MFA in sculpture from the American University. She has won a number of awards for her work, including a Redford University Sculpture Purchase Competition. Her sculptures are in private collections throughout the United States and in Canada, with a number of outdoor works gracing private gardens in the Washington, D.C. area. Ms. Brownstein lives and
