Louis Moore Jr. said that their crop was not really big this year, A little cool weather when the bees were pollinating made a difference, he said.
The Moores will probably finish harvesting this week, finishing up with Winesaps, which are a good keeper apple, said Mr. Moore. But, he said, you can't beat a golden delicious for an eating apple.
Most of the Moore apples are sold to processors in Winchester and Mt. Jackson, and they sell a lot from the farm on Fodderstack Road.
