Both girls and boys cross country teams placed first in a meet with Luray, Page and Clarke County teams in Luray last Wednesday.
Meghan Fairbrother broke the course record for girls, shaving 33 seconds off her previously held course record of 23:47.
The girls scored 24 to Clarke's 37. The boys also had 24, easily winning over Clarke's 47; Luray had 88 and Page had 90.
The weather was hot for running, about 75 degrees, and some runners collapsed at the finish line.
Chris Sause finished second overall, first for the Rappahannock boys, with a time of 19:24. Other boys' standings were Matt Wolfe, 4th; Chad Heddleston, 5th; Chris Dennis, 6th; Mark Williams, 7th; Jeff Atkins, 9th; Tommy Baldwin, 13th; Alex Baumgardner, 15th; Jason Baldwin, 18th; Josh Waddell, 26th; Nathan Flinchum, 27th; Jesse von Fange, 28th; and Brady Wolfe, 34th.
For the girls, Jessica Gheen finished second with 23:52; Allison Lofton, 6th; Emily Sims, 7th; Lauren Sharp, 8th; Beth Yowell, 11th; Robin Kaye, 13th, and Sara Thomas (junior varsity), was 19th.
Rappahannock will host the,adistrict meet on Oct. 23 on their course at Bleu Rock on U.S. 211. The meet will begin at 4 p.m.
