"She was my teacher," said Charles K. "Pete" Estes, vice chair of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors. "She could make the students behave when no one else could."
"She was a fine person and well respected by all the students," he said. "I never got in trouble because I knew better and those who did get in trouble didn't do it twice."
In an interview with the Rappahannock News in 1991 she said, "The best thing a teacher can do is to go to the home of each child in her class as soon as she can."
Mrs. Snead did just that. She took a personal interest in every student she ever had.
