Quaintance-Snead
Mrs. Mary Botts Miller Quaintance Snead, 90, of Sperryville, died on Feb. 2 at the Overlook Nursing Home.
She was bom on Sept. 10,1906, to the late Darius Lyle Miller and Elizabeth Roberts Strother Miller.
Mrs. Snead was the widow of Raymond G. "Dike" Quaintance, Jr. and Doctor John P. Snead III.
Mrs. Snead was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She graduated from Harrisonburg State Teachers College in June 1925, and retired in July 1977 after teaching forty-eight years, the last twenty-two as principal of Rappahannock Elementary School.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Sanford of Orange; two nephews, Wallace W. Sanford, Jr. and Lyle Miller Sanford, both of Orange.
Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother, D. Lyle Miller, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jenning Hobson III officiating.
Interment was in Woodville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were William G. Eastham, Sr., Carson B. Johnson, Jr., C.B. Johnson, Preston Pulliam, John Peyton Snead, John W. Quaintance, H.B. Wood, Jr., and Henry B. Wood, ID.
