"I never figured I'd be sitting behind this desk as superintendent," said Ennis Jenkins of his recent promotion to superintendent of the Rappahannock Office for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Mr. Jenkins received his promotion on Dec. 16, 19% and since then has felt the additional weight of responsibility which has fallen on his shoulders.
"I'm responsible for — well you name it. It's different than being the supervisor because all the decisions fall to the superintendent. But, I've got three good boss men in Warrenton if I need help with anything — so I am okay."
Mr. Jenkins put in for the job after being urged to do so by the men who work for him. "They said they'd help me and all of them seem to be well pleased about it," he said.
Mr. Jenkins, who grew up and attended school in Rappahannock, began his career with VDOT on Dec. 1, 1956 after working for a year on the farm. He started as an
