Mr. Massie said, "I think if you put it to a vote four out of five people would vote to stop the rape and pillage of the mountain tops. The overwhelming majority of people here feel very strongly and we're not going to take rights away, from people, but we should address issues we can such as safety, erosion control, sediment - and make changes. We want to do the right thing and we want to make sure it’s written properly. We'll work on it until we get it right."
The final motion, which was approved, was to add Chris Parrish of the Stonewall Hawthorne District to the list of assessors. The other assessors had been approved at the afternoon session of the board. They were, Tom Junk from the Piedmont District, Amy Hitt from the Jackson District, Bob Dennis from the Wakefield District and Fanning Baumgardner from the Hampton District.
