Two games into their district schedule Rappahannock’s varsity and JV have one win-one loss records.
Both teams lost to Brentsville Friday after victories over Manassas Park earlier in the week.
Varsity Coach Eugene Baltimore said at this point his goal is to host one of the games in the district tournament. The first and second place teams will host games.
Brentsville appears to be headed for the number one spot, and Rappahannock is vying with George Mason for second place in the district.
One disadvantage for the Panthers is that they must finish with three road games.
Before starting their Bull Run District schedule, both teams lost to Madison in away games.
Coach Baltimore noted that the trip to Madison was for the first game in three weeks, "and it showed. We were sluggish. Every aspect of the game was terrible."
Jeff Atkins had 14 points in the 60-42 loss.
Against Manassas Park, Coach Baltimore said his team "came out and played aggressive basketball. Our press did them in." Coach Baltimore said his Panther squad "outplayed and out hustled" Manassas Park, but he was not satisfied with the team's rehnnndino
