Washington artist Rex K. Slack took one of the first place awards at the Middle Street Gallery's "Small" Show, for his creation of a miniature "XMas Trailer." t
Mr. Slack's miniatures are wellknown to the Rappahannock arts community. In them he manages to recreate the world he knew as a boy in West Virginia. "XMas Trailer" has flashing tiny lights outlining a silver house trailer. Further Christmas decorations include a lighted manger * scene in the yard, a lighted Santa, stars and even a pink flamingo.
Howard Klein, the former director of the arts for the Rockefeller Foundation, was the curator who selected from works submitted those to be included in this show and awarded the prizes for them.
Another first prize award went to Mary Brownstein's "Companions," one of three small bronze sculptures. "Companions" portrays separately a reclining human figure and a dog. Two other sculptures by Ms. Brownstein included in the show are "Conversation” which shows two human figures, and "Waiting for Spring," of a human figure and a cow.
A final first prize went to 'Jeffrey Bussell's "Farm," one of a trilogy of tiny framed oil paintings
