Dan Wood

Dan Shelby Wood, 74, of Rixeyville, died on Thursday, Jan. 30 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.

He was bom March 8, 1922, in Charlottesville to the late Jack Wood and Addie Wood.

Survivors include six children, David Snyder of Culpeper, Larry Wood of Rixeyville, Marie Putnam of Midland, Susan Bright of Bealeton, Connie Keyser of Washington and Dorothy Pruss of Remington and a loving companion, Annfe Covington of Rixeyville.

He is also survived by one sister, Sylvia Savage of Confluence, Pa., 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wood was preceded in death by one son, Daniel L. Wood, four brothers, Luther Wood, James Wood, Melvin Wood and William Wood and one sister, Ella Wood.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Found and Sons Chapel in Culpeper with the Rev. Alpheus Atkins officiating.

Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Keith Wood, Jason Wood, Richard Bright, Stevie Settle, Richard McKaige and Wallace Covington. Honorary pallbearer was Jessie Keyser.
