nine months, it's worth making children accountable for what they have learned. Get them into the habit of studying and reviewing material by requiring each one to take a final exam in each subject. No exceptions for high grade averages.
This list of no-additional-cost methods of providing students with a quality education isn’t complete. I'm sure others can add to this list and I encourage them to do so.

Flapdoodles
To the Editor:
Possessing what I think is the best looking flapdoodle in southern Rappahannock County, I am sorely tempted to show it off for the world to admire. It is truly beautiful, I love it very much and the fresh open air always does it good. But alas three things restrain my enthusiasm.
First, my Mommy told me it was bad manners to show off my flapdoodle in public. Then, as I grew up, I learned that not everyone might think it was a beautiful sight to behold and some people might think it was a beautiful sight to behold and some people might even be offended by it. Thirdly, I think there is even a law against it now. I would be committing the sin of exhibitionism, with confiscation visited on the unrepentant.
I am sure the person with the big white flapdoodle grinning at me from the top of Pickerel Ridge, specially scraped clean for an unrestricted view as I drive down 211 from Sperryville to Washington, thinks I should be honored to witness such a work of art. But actually. I'm a bit prudish, and really don't like tljp unrestricted view. Your Mommy should have told you better!
