Diaphanous Records announced recently that recording artist Vyktoria Pratt Keating has been named “Best New Age Vocalist” for the 1997 Wammie Awards held on Jan. 27. The Wammies are the Washington, D.C. area’s answer to the Grammies, and boast quite a few household names as previous winners, including such notables as Mary Chapin Carpenter and the Dave Matthews Band.
This is Keatings’ third Wammie, having won in 1994 for best vocalist and best CD for her debut “Blue Apples,” (which was also nominated for a national NAIRD award). This recent award comes on the heels of her outstanding 1997 CD release “The Guardian at Noon” which has been picked up for national distribution by Borders Books & Music as well as Music Design and New Leaf.
