Bennie Lee Atkins, 76, of Chester Gap died Sunday, April 5 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Rev. John Burke and Rev. James Burke. Burial will follow in the Williams Family Cemetery in Chester Gap.
Mr. Atkins was born April 22, 1921 in Sperryville, son of Silas William and Rosie Cecil Atkins.
He was a mechanic for Wayland Ford Tractor for 25 years and a farmer on the Glendale Farm in Markham for 23 years. He was a member of the Leed’s Ruritan Club in Hume and the Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church in Washington.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years Virginia Frazier Atkins; seven children Roger L. Atkins of Hardy, Frances A. Williams and Benjamin A. Atkins, both
