play Brentsville at home on Tuesday, April 14, at 5 p.m.

The Rappahannock junior varsity baseball team went on the road against Luray Monday night.

After giving up eight runs in the first inning, the team went on to a five inning slaughter rule loss with a final score of 12-2.

Coach Jason Gochenour was surprised at the loss. “We didn’t play the kind of ball we are capable of. We made a lot of errors in the first inning and gave up eight runs, but after the first inning, we only gave up four runs. We didn’t bat well, a lot of our guys struck out. That was a big surprise.”

The JV team will next play Brentsville in an away contest on Tuesday, April 14 at 5 p.m.
