Volunteers assist in screening and recruiting students and host families, orientations, support services, training, working with the media and raising funds for YFU programs.
“One thing I definitely like about the organization is the support system they have for the area representatives,” McNear said. The organization provides her with literature, references, a video for the students and this year profiles of about 300 students whp are interested in this region (that varies from year to year).
She meets with the host family to tell them about the program and then sets up an interview. From that she chooses three or four profiles of students and they narrow the choice from there.
