Pianist Leslie Nichols introduced a different perspective to music appreciation, playing selections ranging from Beethoven to Billy Joel, and Castleton resident Bob Wellemever, an expert in percussion instruments, displayed and demonstrated his collection of drums from Egypt and other parts of Africa. He discussed how each was made and helped the students enjoy a “hands on” experience, pounding and beating the drums.
Rollins, who teaches chorus, general music, and guitar classes, emphasized that “all our administrators in the school system are really supportive. Headwaters also provides financial assistance. Money donated was used to purchase three folk guitars that are loaned to students taking guitar lessons.
"There are some outstanding guitar students," said Rollins. “Some of the students know more about guitar than L, do. Michael Cannon. JoeJ L’Angelle, and Nikki KvarnesJ are all excellent.” •
