Friends and family members are invited to a celebration for Jesse Foster on Sunday, April 10, from 12 to 2:30 p.m. The celebration for Foster, better known to many as “Uncle Jesse” or “Pap,” will be held at the Flint Hill fire hall. The Rappahannock County Historical Society elected officers for 1988-89 at its spring meeting March 24 at the Rappahannock courthouse. New officers are: president, Lucia Kilby; vice president, Edna Metzinger; secretary, Esther Kidwell; treasurer, Miriam Reeve; assistant treasurer, Beverly Atkins; historian, Helen Holschuh; and librarian, Cathy Knuepfer. Jennifer McNear a junior at the Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania, has received her first varsity letter for her contribution to the Blue Devil’s squash team. McNear is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard McNear of Washington, Va.
