Call To Democratic Caucus
The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee hereby announces that it will hold an assembled caucus at Rappahannock County Public Library on April 20, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of electing 3 delegates and 2 alternates to the 10th District Convention.
The 10th District Convention will nominate a candidate for the CI.S. Congress from the 10th Congressional District and conduct such other business as required. The District Convention will be held at 11 a.m. on May 30, 1998 at E. Wilson-Morrlson Elementary School, Front Royal.
Any person attending a caucus, before participating in that caucus, shall sign a standardized declaration form, stating that he or she a) Is a resident of and registered to vote in the precinct, city, or county for which the caucus is held; b) does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to the Democratic nominee in the next ensuing general election; c) is a Democrat; d) is not a member of any other political party; and e) has not participated and will not participate in the nominating process for any other political party for the 1998 general election. Declaration forms must be filled out at the caucus site prior to voting. Doors to the caucus will open at 7 p.m. for registration. Doors to the caucus will be closed at 7:30 p.m. and no person may complete a form or vote after this time with the exception of those persons in line at 7:30 p.m.
Persons wishing to be delegates or alternates to the district convention must file with the Chair of the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee or his/her designees. They are also asked to pay a $15 voluntary administrative fee. However, no one will be denied the right to participate in the delegate selection process due to nonpayment of the voluntary fee. All filing forms must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., April 17, 1998. Faxed filing forms will not be accepted.
