Whatever happened to That Sperryville Emporium? Owners Lee and Martha Lou Hitt want everyone to know that their store is alive and well at its new location on Lee Highway.
After advertising the move for over a year at the old store, they are surprised many local people are still not aware that the store moved several miles west to where the Parkway Gift Shop was formerly located.
Rockers invitingly line the front porch and the redesigned layout of the shelving allows customers to move freely throughout the store. Lee Hitt built new shelving along the walls to hold a prodigious number of naturally sweetened jams and jellies and he added a miniature smokehouse filled with ^country hams.
All of the popular items are still available: Minnetonka moccasins, collectible cars, honey, apple butter, concrete lawn ornaments, bird baths, fireworks, baskets, ceramic sculpture, T-shirts, sweatshirts and even a flamingo or two.
The impressive solid wood furniture accounts for 60 percent of the store’s sales and the large showroom displays the furniture beautifully. The five sunny bay windows add a warm touch not found in many larger retail stores. An entire
