Membership reached a high of 45 members in 1997. The sustaining element of this club has been the making and selling of apple butter to raise money for the club’s outreach activities. More recently, however, the club has taken some additional fund raisers such as the annual auction and the annual raffle draw down which have been very successful and permitted the club to expand its efforts in the community.
During the last club year (which closed June 30, 1997) the club raised and distributed more than $16,000.
President Guy E. “Butch” Foster III then addressed the group and gave out the following awards: “Exceptional and Dedicated Service Award” to club secretary Ken Marlor, and to club treasurer Emerson Williams, the “President’s Appreciation Award-in recognition of Exceptional Leadership and Devoted Service” to immediate past president, Frank Warner; also received his 10 year chevron.
