Plans aire underway for a dramatic musical called “Clowns” to be performed at the Rappahannock Elementary School the week of July 20. Not only will there be singing and speaking parts, but the actors involved (RCES students) will also be performing in sign language. All of this is taking place under the auspices of Headwaters, the Rappahan-nock County Public Education Foundation.
The project originator, coordinator, and sign language consultant is Theresa Light of Woodville. Also involved are Eva and Lori Short of Woodville who will play director and production assistant respectively, and Joy Rollins of Amissville, who is musical director.
Students entering first through seventh grades in the Fall of 1998 are eligible to audition for a role in “Clowns.” There will be 20 speaking parts, 20 dramatic clown parts (no speaking) and 20 choral parts. There is also a need for people with skill or experience in lighting, costuming, clown make-up, carpentry, sound effects, and stage design.
