O’Bannons for 28 years. J. Maurice O’Bannon, Martha Lou’s father, was an excellent businessman who also owned the Parkway. O’Bannon’s wife, Louise, and Martha Lou kept the books for both businesses. Lee became one of the family when he and Martha Lou married in July 1995. When Maurice died in August 1995, the O’Bannons continued operating the Emporium with Lee joining the business as manager. „ When their lease was not renewed for 1998, the Hitts were glad they had the Parkway site. The location of the old store was fantastic, Lee said, but in some ways this is an even better situation since the building is in good shape and room exists for expansion on the 11 acres.
