(Virginia) Govenor, William E. Bartlett Jr. was the featured speaker. The program began with an impressive opening ceremony wich included a special presentation of a citation issued by the Governor of Virginia to family of the late Paul A. Nichols.

Nichols charter life member who passed away in October 1996, and for whom April 23, 1997 was designated “Paul A. Nichols Day” by the club and by the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County was recognized for having donated his eyes through the Lions Clubs’ Eye Bank Program. His wife was slated to make the presentation, but was unable to attend due to a death in the family.

After the introduction of the head table, the presentation of Monarchs/Chevrons, and the introduction of guests a delicous beffet dinne was served. Just as the dessert was being finished, the group was favored by a violin solo by 12-year-old Dale Forrester, who for the third
