instructional teams, and refocusing on effective instructional techniques. However, the announcement of the SOL test scores will be our starting point for meeting the new standards. Rappahannock, like all public schools, will have three years to meet the new accreditation and SOL test score standards.

The first year test results will be treated as initial base line results on which to build. As superintendent of the Rappahannock Schools, I applaud Governors Allen, Gilmore and appointed State Boards of Education for their bold improvement initiatives. Rappahannock is committed to meet and surpass the new standards. We are anxiously awaiting the release of the test scores in October so that we can get on with the task of utilizing the new standards and the state’s new vision of education.
