Tompkins said the system suited the needs of the town. He said he liked the fact that the effluent draining out of the system was so clean that Watoga Park ran the treated water into an active trout stream. He thought the $1.4 million price was reasonable and compared favorably with the resident’s general misconception that the town’s waste water system would cost about $5 million. Also, he appreciated that the space required for the system was minimal, requiring only a few acres including the drain field.
The town has considered a waste water system for several years. The properties in the interior of the town have the most difficulties with their septic systems, said Tompkins.
