At 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 21 David Roberts, in company with Wanda Carpenter and Wayne Baldwin set out for upstate New York.
The occasion requiring the trip was two-fold. David had just purchased the old CookErnie homestead in Cooks Falls, Delaware County, N.Y. This being the maternal home of David until the death of his mother, Myrtle Ernie Roberts in 1974. After her death the old home was sold out-of-thefamily to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Langan from New York City in whose hands it remained until about a month ago. Mr. Langan’s health failing, had a desire to sell and upon hearing his old home was on the market, David made the contacts, etc., and it was bought back into the family.
The second reason for motoring north was the fourth annual Cook-Ernie family reunion. Heretofore we held the reunion at the Cooks Falls fire hall and at Kevin Roberts’ home in Roscoe, N.Y.
Thirty five friends and family gathered at the old home place. Coming from Virginia, New Hampshire, New York and Maine. The highlight of the gathering was the 88th birthday of Mr. George Brower, a long time neighbor and family friend. The oldest family member was Mary Ernie Griffin at age 76. The youngest was Thomas
